Services

Telehealth Therapy

Telehealth services involve the provision of psychological therapy to clients ANYWHERE in Australia via a video consultation.

Telehealth is provided via an Australian Telehealth Software platform, Coviu or through FaceTime.

Both are secure and encrypted platforms and approved by the Psychology Board of Australia.

Face to Face Therapy

Face to face therapy is provided in Dr Salena’s peaceful, picturesque and private clinic in Macquarie Park.

The clinic is filled with light and has a large balcony that overlooks the beautiful Lane Cove National Park.

The clinic is in a building with a 2 hour free car park at the front or a short walk from North Ryde Metro.

There is a friendly cafe on the ground floor where you can grab a coffee or tea to bring to your therapy session.

WorkCover and Workers Compensation

These services are offered to individuals who have sustained a psychological injury at work and have taken out a WorkCover claim with an insurance provider.

Psychological treatment is provided typically during the day via Telehealth or face-to-face.

Admin includes producing Allied Health Treatment Requests (AHTR)’s for 8 sessions of therapy and also liaising with your Insurance Case Manager to provide progress reports.

ADHD Clinical Support Services

ADHD Support Services are offered to older adolescents (16+) or Adults who have been living with ADHD, whether newly diagnosed or seeking better ways to manage daily challenges.

These services include psychoeducation about ADHD and practical skill-building for organisation, time management, overcoming procrastination and emotional regulation.

The goal is to help clients better understand their unique ADHD profile and develop systems to reduce overwhelm, improve executive functioning and foster self-confidence.

Communication Coaching for "People Pleasers"

Communication coaching can help clients—especially those who identify as people pleasers— to find their voice, set healthy boundaries, and express their needs with clarity and confidence.

Coaching includes identifying mindset blocks that hinder effective communication to make it easier to learn assertive communication skills, boundary-setting strategies, and tools for managing conflict or difficult conversations with greater ease.

The goal is to move away from patterns of over-explaining, saying “yes” when you mean “no,” or avoiding hard conversations to the detriment of relationships.

Peer and Clinical Supervision

Peer supervision is currently available for other psychologists who are Credentialed Eating Disorder Clinicians (CEDC’s) and wish to meet the ongoing PD requirements for 1-2-1 and/or group supervision.

Dr Salena is currently completing her training as Psychology Board Approved (PsyBA) Supervisor – supervision services will be available from December 2025.

Fees and Rebates

Fees (2025)

Fees are set for 50 minute sessions, with additional 10 minutes for record keeping and treatment planning.

Dr Salena’s fees are considerably less than the Australian Psychological Society’s (APS) recommended fee of $311 for a standard consultation.

Dr Salena’s fees are also reflective of her many years of experience as a psychologist.

Current fees are as follows:

Fee for Initial Consultation (with additional out of session treatment planning) – $300

Fee for Subsequent Consultations before 4:30pm- $265

Fee for Subsequent Consultations at 4:30pm or later- $275

Fee for Letter Writing, Form Filling or Out-of-session Admin- $66.25 per 15 mins (incl. GST).

* Please note- Dr Salena does not offer bulk-billing services however your out-of-pocket expenses may be significantly less if you are eligible for a Medicare Rebate or a Private Health Fund rebate. Please read below for further information.

Medicare rebates and out-of-pocket expenses (2025)

Medicare rebates are available to reduce your out-of-pocket expenses when seeing a Psychologist or other Allied Health Professional.

To receive Medicare rebates you need to see your GP or Psychiatrist to determine your eligibility for either a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP) or an Eating Disorder Treatment Plan (EDTP).

If you are eligible for a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP), and your GP provides you with a referral letter to see a Psychologist, you can receive Medicare rebates for up to 10 individual psychology therapy sessions in the calendar year.

If you are eligible for an Eating Disorder Treatment Plan (EDTP), and your GP or Psychiatrist provides you with a referral letter to see a Psychologist, you can receive Medicare rebates for up to 40 individual psychology therapy sessions in the calendar year.

To be eligible for an EDTP, you need to be experiencing current signs and symptoms of Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder or Other Specified Feeding or Eating Disorder (OSFED). You will also need to complete a questionnaire to determine severity of your symptoms.

The current Medicare rebate for a 50+ min therapy session for an AHPRA registered Clinical Psychologist is $141.85.

When receiving the Medicare rebate, out-of-pocket (OOP) expenses are reduced to the following:

OOP for Initial Consultation – $158.15

OOP for Subsequent Consultations before 4:30pm- $123.15

OOP for Subsequent Consultations at 4:30pm or later- $133.15

OOP expenses for seeing highly trained mental health professionals such as Clinical or Counselling Psychologists, can often work out to be less than the ongoing costs of seeing a Counsellor or Therapist.

Medicare rebate amounts increase every year on the 1st July to account for inflation.

Dr Salena’s fees typically update around the same time to cover for increasing overheads in running a private practice.

However the increase in fees is generally equivalent to the increase in the rebate, so your OOP expenses remain about the same.

When clients reach the Medicare Safety Net threshold, your fee is subsidised significantly by Medicare. The OOP expenses can then reduce to as low as $20 for some individuals.

Private health fund rebates

As a Clinical and Counselling Psychologist, Dr Salena is eligible to provide psychology services for the vast majority of private health funds including Medibank, BUPA, HCF, HIF, NIB, AHM, Members Health, Australian Unity, Teachers Fund and others.

Please check your health insurance policy or call your insurance provider to confirm whether psychology services are covered under your existing plan.

Health fund rebates will differ for each person depending on their policy and level of cover.

Please note, if you are receiving a Medicare rebate for an appointment, you are unable to claim a private health rebate for the same appointment.
